All Souls Matter

I was given a pamphlet by some very nice religious ladies and when I glanced at it the main topic was resurrection of the dead. Now I know they probably meant that one event, which I cannot seem to remember the name of right now, but as someone who would give a year of my life to spend one more hour with my deceased loved one it just rubbed me the wrong way.

I could not help thinking, why would you give false hope to those who are hurting?

Then I pondered the topic of resurrection. I know that humans beings are made up of matter and I would like to believe this matter is our souls, since our bodies decay meanwhile matter cannot be created or destroyed. I would like to think that our souls are as old as the universe itself and will never die.

Progressively, my thoughts wondered to other topics with a religious tone. I began to think it was unfair to say that not all souls who were inherently good would make it to heaven. If I were in charge of deciding who would get in to heaven I could not deny a beautiful soul entrance just because it had chosen to love the same gender or that they were not ready to have a child. I could not refuse a soul that was so pure but had committed one mistake that society could not forgive.

It was then that I thought to myself, All Souls Matter.

What a beautiful ideal. All Souls Matter. Now to me, all souls matter, means that each soul should have the opportunity to learn to be good which might take more than a lifetime but in the end the good must outweigh the evil.

It was a good ideal in theory.
